YCCS Yacht Club
Adjacent to the world-class resort community of Oil Nut Bay is the YCCS Marina, the new Caribbean home of the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, owned and managed by his Royal Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan. It’s a deep-water port and club serving the owners of the world’s finest mega-yachts and guests when they winter in the New World.
With its decor provided by Gotham of Notting Hill, London, and supervised by Countess Beatrice Von Der Schulenburg, the YCCS Yacht Club includes a bar, restaurant, lounge and patio open to the public and a Club Room, Great Room and Gym for members only.
When Think Simple began work on the club’s technology, they knew the aesthetics of the rooms and their finish would be paramount. The client did not want to see TVs mixed in with their superb decor and furnishings. The team installed an audio, video and lighting control system that is invisible when not in use.
Club members use the system to enjoy music, catch up on the news, watch a movie or a big game, and, on occasion, make a presentation to clients or colleagues. The sound and video quality had to be superb and, because of the challenging Caribbean environment, components had to be exceptionally well-made to resist salt, wind and storms. Think Simple used Crestron control, Crestron Sonnex and DigitalMedia distribution systems, plus Samsung TVs, Sonance, James and NuVo speakers.
We feel lucky to have the opportunity to work on projects of this caliber. Yet we’ve worked hard to maintain relationships, build reliable systems, make every deadline and, above all, keep operations extremely simple for our clients.
We base our approach on something Leonardo da Vinci once said: “Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.”
